ABOUT me

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME

life is an one way street,
so try everything!

Hi, I’m Tim

I’m a person who pursuits various passions. I have done some projects in the past, some good, some bad. In the end, not everything works out.

However, the best moments are always etched in my memories. I enjoy writing stories of my previous adventures, such as amazing trips around various places on my bicycle, learning a new skill and overcome the hardships, and some fun art works for combating my teacher.

STAGE ACTOR

Performing on stage is always the most magical moment to me.

When I'm in high school, I joined our school's drama club. Even though I haven't got a chance to become a stage actor back then, the atmosphere of drama still entice me to try more. Luckily, after I graduated I got a chance to join a troupe, and got a chance to perform on stage as a comedic character. I'm glad to know a lot of friends in the field of theatre, even though I didn't choose drama as the path as a future career, It is nice to know more about the magic behind the scene.

Fast forward to freshmen years in CCU, I assisted our department's graduation play. With multiple acting experiences, I was luckily enough to act on stage as a freshmen student. Even though the overall experience is chaos as best, nightmare at some period, overall the result are pretty impressive for me. This is the first time for me to try to share some techniques of being an actor. At the end, everyone perform at their best on the final performance.

gymnastics

Testing my limits on physical and mental abilities.

Gymnastics are always my childhood dream. To see athletes seemingly defy physics and do moves beyond imagination. The risks of pulling of these outrageous move are extremely high. Though I haven't had a chance to try gymnastics as a kid, I practice backflips at a gymnastic classroom around 2019, and join CCU cheerleading team after the second semester.

At the cheerleading team I've finally had an break through. I've learned how to do the back flips by myself. Even though I injured my self multiple times, I still managed to get up again and again. Now, I am aiming at trying harder movements like Arabian flips and back hand-spring.

3d render

Create real objects in a fictional world.

I joined industrial design school in 2016. Before that, I only had experiences on creating small paper crafts and model. In the design school, I've been introduced to various materials, such as clay, plastics, acrylic, woodwork, styrofoam.

At the second year of design school, we are introduced to 3D modeling and 2D rendering. Creating 3D model with Autodesk Alias software is a tedious task for me. Not only I am not good at building curvature surfaces, I had a hard time understanding various tools and procedures in the software. However, in the end of the semester I still had to bring out something to be grade at. Hence, I utilize my limited knowledge of Alias and create the most elaborate and detailed 3D model I've yet to create. By improvising and change any detail that I don't know how to do, into simple strait lines and corner fillet.

The one tool to rule them all: Pencil.

When I was young I always draw on my textbook during class time, with years of boring lecture filling throughout my childhood, it's easy to imagine how much practice I've got after 12 years of compulsory education.

During the class time I'm not be able to bring a whole set of water colors or crayons without teacher's notice. So, the most stealthy and available tool for me is a automatic pencil. My artwork are mostly sketches of architecture or classmates faces. At my high school years I learned English Calligraphy to counteract my English's crazy writing punishments. This work also gained extra points for my college application interview.

vehicle design

The passion of cars, bikes, and buses.

My brother and I are big nerds to anything related to vehicles, especially public transportation. He enjoys taking as many lines of buses as possible in Taipei, While I enjoys taking every type of buses in Taipei. Hence, years later he became a famous bus photographer, and I applied for vehicle design department of our industrial design school.

However, after I entered the department, I suddenly realized that everyone are sports car or motorcycle nerds. No one shared the same passion of public transportation like me. I had a hard time following those extremely detail of horsepower, transmission, and aerodynamic properties. Still, I've managed to learn more about anything that has wheels underneath it. At the second year I finally designed an quad bike and car combo as a fictional concept vehicle.

Sadly, my dream of creating a full package trainset never materialized. I've dropped out at my third year due to an illness called pneumothorax.

world adventures

My biggest adventure on pedals.

At 2018, I got a unique chance to visit my Junior high school friend in Germany. We plan on visiting multiple country: Germany, Netherlands, and Egypt. This is also my first time traveling aboard by myself. At that time I'm so into cycling, that I had a crazy idea about bringing my single-speed bike to Europe and ride across the Alps. My plan was starting in Innsbruck, Austria. Riding for 400 kilometer to Northern Italy. Climbing a total of three, two thousand meter height mountain passes. Including the infamous 2730 meter Stelvio pass in Italy.

But my friend refuse to let me complete the journey alone, because this is my first time traveling abroad, he felt that he was responsible for my safety. So I kept enticing him to go with me. I even plan on renting a road bike in Austria, and prepare all the cycling bags and luggage for our trips. Finally, he agreed to go on the crazy journey with me.

However, he doesn't have any training related to cycling. Not to mention the extreme strength and cardiorespiratory capacity to cycle uphill. Hence, the whole journey is both epic and disastrous at the same time.

ultra-distance cycling

Riding day and night until the next day.

When I start cycling, I never thought I'm strong enough to compete in races. Since I'm not the athletic type while growing up, I only focused on finishing the race or event.  However, in 2013, a group of riders invite me to ride a challenge route called 97850, simply riding all night long from Taipei to Wuling(武嶺), which is the highest pavement point in Taiwan. I've managed to finished the route under complete exhaustion and fatigue. This experience inspired me to challenge some ultra-distance challenge routes, such as Taipei to Kaohsiung, One-day route nine(Taipei to Pingtung via east coast)

These kind of challenge are extremely hard, requires a strong mindset to withstand the boredom and sleepiness. However, when I finished these difficult achievements, I will gather a lot of praise and popularity online. So it ended up like a vicious cycle for me, in order to be popular online, I had to push beyond my limits to attempt more dangerous routes. The hardest timed ultra-distance ride I've done is in 2019, Starting from Yilan across the central ridge and Alishan, all the way to Chiayi in 30 Hours.

To sustain popularity, I've also done extremely stupid things like riding a single speed bike up to Wuling for ten times total. It's both crazy and bad for my knee, and a bad example in general. The last grand route I've done on my single speed is the Tour around Taiwan ride.

(Please look forward for future updates of the Tour around Taiwan ride)

South cross island highway

This road was closed in 2009 due to typhoon Morakot, it closed for 13 years until 2022. However, the road still closed for cyclist till today.

However, at 2018, with an extremely strong cold wave covered most of Taiwan's high mountains in white snows, I decided to sneak into the restricted zone...
